Privacy policy

This policy is published in draft while the company completes its statutory registrations. It states our actual practice today and will be reissued in final form, reviewed by counsel, before we take orders.
This policy explains what personal data Dotasara Agrotech collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
From this website: only what you type into an enquiry form — your name, phone number, optional email, the type of organisation you represent, your district and your message. From the PHYTOSPEX app: your name, your email address, your mobile number, the soil readings you take, and the plot labels you choose to attach to them. The app also asks for two permissions when a feature needs them, and only then — your camera, to photograph a leaf for the AI plant check, and your precise location, to tag a reading to the plot it came from and to find the PHYTOSPEX instrument over Wi-Fi.
Your mobile number, and who sees it
An account needs a mobile number, and we confirm it with a code by SMS. Your email is not confirmed — it is how we reach you, not how we know you — but the number is, because it is what identifies your account to us, what our support team asks for, and the only way to get back in if you forget your password. The code is sent by Google's Firebase service on our behalf, so your number reaches Google as part of sending it, and Google also uses numbers submitted this way to detect abuse across its own services. By creating an account you agree to that. We store the number ourselves to identify your account, and we do not use it for marketing.
Why we collect it
Enquiry details are used to reply to you and to arrange a pilot or demonstration. App data is used to give you your results, keep your history, and — in aggregate and without identifying you — to improve the accuracy of our advisory. A leaf photograph is sent to Google's Gemini model to be read, because we do not run a vision model of our own. It is sent for that one request and we do not store it: what comes back, and all we keep, is a line of text describing what the model saw.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your enquiry to add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.
Where it is stored
Personal data is stored on servers in India. Soil readings stay on your phone and are only sent to us if you are signed in and syncing.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as we are in contact with you and for two years afterwards. App data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed, your readings are stripped of their account link and their GPS coordinates, and what remains contributes to our aggregate models anonymously. You can delete your account from Settings inside the app, or by writing to us — the account deletion page sets out exactly what goes and what stays.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw consent you previously gave. Write to us and we will act within the timelines the DPDP Act sets.
